Home Improvement Ideas And Tips For Anyone

making repairs by These Days in French Life

In my world of automotive repair I talk a lot about Automotive Technician Certification or ASE Certification.

Since I bought our shop I've been making a stir in our local area and some don't understand exactly how it can affect them. So I'm here to explain exactly that and hopefully you will be able to take this knowledge and pass it on to YOUR friends and family as well as protect yourself next time you have your vehicles repaired or serviced...NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE AT OR WHERE YOU GO.......

What I've been stressing is simply this....your hairdresser, doctor, dentist, groomer for your pets, etc....have to have a LICENSE/CERTIFICATION to do

their jobs. They have to pass a series of tests to cut your hair or see you, and they are held by strict standards set by the state, etc.

But, YOUR MECHANIC DOES NOT have to have a license to work on your vehicle - plain and simple - and THIS is what the Auto Repair Industry has hidden from the consumer FOR YEARS and they don't want you to know.

Everyone from the dealerships to independent shops have MANY within those shops that have NEVER been trained to do the job they are doing.

More often then not many have gained their experience working on their own vehicles or friends vehicles from their garages....but are now gaining MORE experience on YOUR vehicle. (Kind of "On The Job Training!")

How do repair shops and dealerships get away with this - it's fairly simple. I have driven all over the country and have seen many shops - (especially the ones that love to advertise the $13.00 oil changes) with ASE Certification in their windows.

While you are there they tell you ALL kinds of things THEY THINK are wrong with your car. MOST of those people aren't even trained TO KNOW what to look for, nonetheless tell you it needs fixing. How can they get

away with ASE advertising?

Here is How:

ASE has STRICT Testing you must take to be considered certified. But there is a glitch...they have a total of 8 different tests.

1.Engine Repair

2.Automatic Transmission/Trans Axel

3.Manual Drive train/Axel

4.Suspension & Steering

5.Brakes

6.Electrical/Electronic Systems

7.Heating & Air Conditioning

8.Engine Performance

All that one shop has to do is have ONE of his technicians pass ONE test to advertise as being ASE CERTIFIED! After that one test is passed ASE allows you to advertise assuming your being honest about what you can and cannot do as far as repairs are concerned!

Where is the danger? Well if that ONE tech could only pass ONE test - lets say for Brakes - the shop is advertising ASE and tells you that you need a new transmission - how would they know what they were talking about? They are only certified for brakes!

What happens is that most consumers see the ASE Certification in the windows of shops or on their yellow book advertising and think that everyone within the building is certified to work on your vehicle - that couldn't be further from the truth. (Also is the certification CURRENT?)

At one time when my husband was working at a local shop before we opened our business - he was the ONLY ONE within the shop that was certified!

Not the owner, manager, and NONE of the techs held a certificate. The techs had only gotten their experience from working on cars at their own houses! My husband ended up showing these goofballs on a daily basis how to fix the cars and do you think they cared or appreciated it? Heck no - they were still making their money off you with no thoughts as to what may or may not happen to you after you left.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say - well then I'll just sue them if something goes wrong with my repair or turn them into the BBB or Bureau of Automotive Repair - aka BAR.

First off - that's fine as long as your okay to do that after getting on the freeway at 75+mph and having your car fail. Second - most suits don't even get to a settlement because YOU signed Okaying the repair and they count on that.

AND the shop HAD the certificate hanging on the wall clearly showing you that only ONE of their techs were certified and that was for ONLY brakes and since there is no standard that they HAVE TO FOLLOW then it falls back into your lap.

The next thing I love to see that makes me laugh and feel bad for those that don't know is when I go into lets say the dealership or chain repair store. They LOVE to have all kinds of certificates hanging on the walls - but notice they aren't ASE...they say "store" trained - well that's nice. Most of those places don't just sell that ONE make and model of a vehicle - and how many times have you purchased an extended warranty? Or the chain store....they say that THEY trained them....okay and who knows what they are doing? (They Who?!)

Why am I so passionate about ASE - it is because those tests are across the board for EVERY make and model of a car. Now lets think about that for a minute. How many makes and models of cars are there out there?

THOUSANDS.

That's why MANY cannot PASS MOST of those tests -they are HARD. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HARD! Brakes are one of the easiest because brakes can be pretty standard.....sometimes. But transmissions, engine repair - etc. ??? That my friend is a whole different story.

If you are in the chain store or dealership look for the ASE certificates and LOOK for what they are REALLY trained for - I think you'll be surprised.

(Did you know?.....Dealerships Techs ONLY get training when the Dealership is willing to pay additionally for training - SURPRISE!)

The other way they get away with it? How often do you know that the person actually working on your vehicle is trained? Do you get to meet him? Talk to him? Nope. You just assume that EVERYONE back there is trained and all is well. Can you ask for someone trained to be working on your vehicle - sure you can ask - but you don't really know for sure -because if everyone asked, nothing would get done!

Most times there isn't anyone that's actually qualified to do the job or they don't have enough people trained at all......

Another reason many don't care if they employ certified ASE mechanics is because they are EXPENSIVE. Testing is expensive for the technician if they have to pay for it themselves and they are expensive for the shops. A guy that's trained means having to pay MORE money to hire and keep him on staff.

To keep up with industry standards with machinery, training, etc is VERY COSTLY - I know. But YOU don't know if they have the latest equipment or not - or if they have trained people on staff AND no one is checking to make sure....it's always kind of been left up to YOU.

Unfortunately the ONLY time you find out these harsh facts is when something does go wrong and by that time it's too late. You're out either a vehicle or lots of money on a repair that NEVER fixed what you

brought it in for.

I don't know about you but I think that's PRETTY SCARY!

You can check out any time the ASE standards and see for yourself how many repair shops have gotten around a great organization to make it appear like they are apart of something great when they really aren't - not to the degree that YOU think they are.

Ask to see their certificates - make sure they are current and not expired.

To have a "Master Technician" in any shop is rare. What is a Master Technician? That is someone who not only took the tests listed but passed them ALL...not just one.

Again, ONE MASTER technician in ANY shop is rare not to mention ANYONE who has adequate training. How about the owner being trained - again most aren't but they are running the business ...... odd don't you think that THEY don't know about the very thing they say they specialize in?

So now you know and it is up to all of us to hold these unethical shops accountable.

Together - we can all put a stop to unethical repairs and shops out there that don't care about you or your SAFETY.

One more story before I let you go:

True story by the way......

An elderly woman on limited income went in to get a transmission flush at a local shop where we live. They took the pan down threw some metal shavings into it - went out into the waiting room and told her she needed a new transmission. She just now went from a $69.95 job to a $1700.00 job. They cleaned up the bottom of the pan - cleaned off the transmission - sprayed a little spray paint on it to make it look new - did the flush ONLY and a few days later gave her car back. Same old transmission - and made close to $1730.00 profit.

She had originally come in with the great little "coupons" you get in the fliers every week in the mail for a transmission flush special....aka (bait) and she

was taken advantage of hook, line and sinker.

This is why I do what I do now - I advertise that they don't have ASE Certificates - I advertise how they get away with it if they do and I tell anyone who will listen what I've seen and how to avoid the pain of being taken advantage of in the auto repair world.

Be safe out there!

If you are using AJAX or Flash, do not use it very much. In spite of the fact it can look nice and give your site interactivity, it is useless in helping search engines actually find your website. If you have to use Flash, be sparing in your use and include navigation links, keywords and other relevant text on pages that rely heavily on Flash.

Offer proof that any claims you make about a product you are selling are true. People aren't going to believe you if you say that French course you're pitching helped improve your French, but they might believe you if you show them a video of you speaking French using examples from the course. This is an excellent way to show customers that you have used the products and what they can expect when they buy from you.

On your webpage, have free offers. A lot of people might be interested in getting a article on download. For example, if you have a landscaping company, offer watering and other care tips in the downloads. This helps you to work with your customer and creates the beginning of a bond.

Offer freebies or contests and ask them if you can send them future emails. People are more likely to provide you with their email addresses when it is apparent that doing so is beneficial to them.

You can use Internet marketing to build the largest customer base possible. It's also helpful for interacting with your audience. It creates a new way for customers and businesses to interact. Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO) - You Missed Turning Five Hundred dollars Into Three Thousand Within Weeks - Penny Stock Investing Protocols - Penny Stocks For Beginners

It may appear a little outrageous, on the other hand with the newly discovered popularity of penny stock trading; alot of ordinary, everyday folks have been earning some serious coin from as little as 1 or 2 trades - buying penny stocks that all cost you less than a share to acquire.

Yes, I'm fully mindful that this may seem like a lot of hogwash, but don't think for a second that it's not occurring practically day after day. There have been tons of businesses whose stock price had dipped to basically pennies per share and in some cases fractions of a penny per share, who've made very quick and explosive rises to levels that are 2, 3 or as high as 10 to 20 times that price in just a few days.

Don't believe me? It'll only take a minute to locate one of the frequent occurrences in the penny stock market - Sunpeaks Ventures, Inc.. (SNPK). Try typing the ticker symbol into almost any financial site, Take a look at their historical charts for the past 90 days or so; you will see that the company was sitting at a pretty unremarkable $.43 a share close to the middle of March, then leaped amazingly as high as .40 in only a few weeks. It does not take a lot of math to figure out that just 0 would've changed into nearly 00 in just a matter of weeks. For this very rationale people have been in a position to quit their day jobs to trade 1 or 2 penny stocks a month, and pay all of their bills and experience life stress-free.

By doing a little due diligence, you can realize awesome profit margins in penny stocks; and it doesn't take the long-term investing that you commonly have to be prepared for when you invest in your average blue chip stocks. The big stock investors can get a %5 boost in a week's time ( This is a very good week for them), but if you can commit 0 - earning won't make you jump for joy... best you can do with that kind of gain is go to a movie... by yourself!

Much like any investment, even penny stock investing has risks, but think of this: when you can invest $500 in a penny stock and possibly turn that small investment into thousands within weeks (and I don't mean 52 weeks) - the risk/reward ratio weighs seriously in your benefit. Even so, you can invest in nice "safe" blue chip companies and possibly see a gain of a couple hundred bucks a year.. that's if you don't invest in top of the line blue chips like Tyco, Enron or Adelphia...lol.

Right now, we're paying close attention to Pazoo, Inc. (PZOO). This particular stock went from dormant to trading over 1 million shares as of last Thursday. The price kept steady all day on Thursday, even with the heavy trading (staying at $.10 per share), but then on Friday -things started to change ( the stock closed at $.135 - a 35% gain in One day). At the time of this publishing, the stock is continuing to climb today (7/23/12) climbing to just under $.15 per share. What to take notice of with this company is it's fundamentals; a good team, good product mix and revenue!

None of the companies mentioned in this article have paid for promotion or investor awareness - they are mentioned for reference points only. Step-By-Step Tips You Can Use For Home Appliance Repair

Appliance Repair by Emilio324

Appliance paint is useful in updating tired appliances without breaking a budget. I figured this out when I had a white stained refrigerator door on a rent house. The refrigerator was totally useful, and I didn't want to throw it away just because the door was stained. I also knew that no one in their right mind would rent the unit if the refrigerator looked dirty. I gave appliance paint a shot.

There are many things you should know about appliance paint before determining if appliance paint is what you need. Here's everything you need to know about appliance paint and how to use appliance paint.

Overview of Appliance Paint

When deciding if appliance paint is right for you, you should realize that regular paint is never to be used on appliances. The paint will not bond to the appliance correctly and will flake or wash off very easily. Appliance paint is useful if you have one appliance that does not match the rest of your appliances. In addition, you should take care to purchase appliance paint that is heat resistant if using appliance paint on heat sources such as a stove or oven.

Types of Appliance Paint

A homeowner who is interested in updating appliances using paint should know that there are two kinds of appliance paint to choose from: spray paint and brush-on paint. Spray-on appliance paint is recommended for situations where an entire appliance must be painted. Spray paint will create an even finish that is free from tell-tale roller and brush marks. Brush-on appliance paint is best to touch up small scrapes and dents in your appliances. If you must fill in a dent or gouge in your appliance, make sure that the filler compound will bond with appliance paint.

How to Use Appliance Paint

If you think that appliance paint is right for you, here is a step-by-step guide to applying appliance paint:

1) Move the appliance to a well ventilated area. It is important that the appliance is unplugged before you wash or paint the appliance. You don't want to electrocute yourself!

2) Remove any handles or areas on the appliance that you don't want to be painted. A prime example is the handle on a refrigerator or freezer.

3) Thoroughly clean and dry all surfaces to which the paint will be applied. Make sure that all dirt and debris is washed away. Make sure the area is moisture-free before starting to paint. Moisture can affect the bond of the appliance paint.

4) If you have any rust spots you will need to treat them before applying paint. This will keep the rust from eating through the new paint and leave rust spots less noticeable.

5) Read the instructions on the appliance paint of your choice and paint your appliance using their directions. Follow any directions, no matter how trivial they may sound. You don't want your appliance to scream "my owner painted me because they were too cheap to buy a new appliance".

6) Allow the appliance paint to dry, and add another coat if necessary. Before moving the appliance back to its position, you will need to make sure it is completely dry.

7) Enjoy your brand-spanking new looking appliance that cost under $100.

My experience with appliance paint has been decent. For a landlord or first time homeowner with not a lot of cash to spare, a great can of appliance paint may be the answer to their prayers.

Learn How To Be Successful With Your SEO

SEO Company by ackleyjojo

SEO, search engine optimization. It is an acronym and phrase used so often on the web, many are mislead by the actual process that leads to ensuring your content is found easily. Most are of the opinion that it is merely placing keywords within your content and meta tags then leaving it at that. This is only the very tiny tip of the iceberg that is SEO. Trying to wade through all the different aspects of SEO can be a very daunting and timely task. My hope is to help break this up into smaller, manageable pieces and point you in the right direction. The first step to determine if purchasing Social media is just a wise move for the company is once you understand your market habits. By using Google and Weblog Aggregators, you can observe if your niche has a wholesome social networking presence, or if it generally does not exist. Do not forget to browse professional and social network websites as well, maybe your future clients aren't writing on blogs nevertheless they are asking questions there that must be answered. If social media marketing isn't very established for the business sector, but people are searching for information and asking each other it may be a fantastic opportunity to position yourself as a reputable source of information and a forum for conversations. However, if there doesn't seem to be a buzz on the internet for the services or products, you might be better using other more traditional types of marketing. If you know your target audience is just a frequent user of any Social networking channel, be it Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or every other, it's probably worthwhile to build up a sound social media marketing technique for that channel. In this way it is possible to achieve them in an environment they've been already knowledgeable about and associate with fun and interesting things. However, if your audience just doesn't make an online search for sharing information and pictures it may be a waste of commitment to try to make sure they are put it to use. Considering the other players on the market are doing can help here. If your competitors Facebook page has very little fans it may be since they are doing it wrong or because the kind of person you are targeting prefers to invest their time on Twitter, and the other way round. It's easier to find your users where they are already than trying to cause them to become start using something they do not like merely to tick a checkbox named "My company includes a Twitter account". Need Help On How To Get Your Teeth White? Read These Tips

Sponsored by Cosmetic Dentist Los Angeles You do not want to have to worry about stained teeth when you meet new people. The first thing they will see is your smile. Thankfully, many techniques for teeth whitening exist. The information provided in the following article should help you make an informed decision when it comes to whitening your teeth.

Electric toothbrushes can help to give you whiter teeth. These toothbrushes can remove any strains that are on your teeth from particular foods, wine, and tobacco. Electric toothbrushes spin or vibrate at high speeds which helps loosen plaque and stains.

Have you considered trying a whitening toothpaste? Used alone, they aren't as effective as a number of other methods; however, they will prevent new stains from forming and may remove some minor stains. Such toothpastes contain silica which acts as a mild abrasive to scrub away stains, without harming tooth enamel.

One way to whiten your teeth is to drink lots of water. Consuming large amounts of water keeps your teeth free of food particles and liquids that could stain your teeth. Make a habit of drinking water, particularly with and immediately following meals.

Another easy way you can add to whitening your teeth and take care of them at the same time is by making use of teeth whitening toothpastes and flosses. Products containing baking soda are effective in removing stains as you floss and brush.

Try to avoid beverages that can stain teeth if you want them to stay beautifully white. For example, cola, coffee and black tea are all culprits. If it is not possible for you to eliminate these beverages from your routine, try to drink water in between gulps.

No matter how many times you bleach your teeth, your crowns will not whiten. When use whitening products, it will have an effect on natural teeth but not your crowns.

Drink only clear beverages for a few days after you got your teeth cleaned. Your teeth are more apt to absorbing colors, making them stained again.

Whitening gels are available to whiten your teeth. You can find these gels at most drug stores, and they cost next to nothing when compared to the price of a professional teeth whitening procedure. Although sometimes if your teeth have bad enough stains, a dentist may be your only option.

Teeth whitening is a simple, relatively cheap way to improve the quality of your life. It will make you look better, but it will also give you self-confidence. This may make you more comfortable engaging in various group activities. Implement the advice in these tips in order to get the best results without investing too much money and time.
